The Queen of Peace Community
gives a report on their activities
from April 2007 onwards...
During Lent, Stations of the
Cross were said at Boran Road and Bazar Road;
also at the houses of the housebound, thus giving
them a sense of belonging. It also gave the
community a chance to interact with the housebound.
Rosary was said daily at the
crosses of Boran and Bazar Cross Road in May.
We visited the Mother Theresa
Orphanage on 5th September the feast
day of Mother Theresa.
We conducted a pilgrimage
to Mount Mary's (Bandra) in November. Mass for
the deceased members of our community was also
held this month.
Our community participated
in Sparkles and distributed T-Shirts
to our participants.
We celebrated Parents' and
Children's Day on the Ascension House terrace
and the Community helped in decorating the road
and constructing the altar in the Boran Road
Park during the 13 hours adoration. It was a
great success.
The Christmas season saw us
giving gifts to the housebound and visiting
the sick.
Some of us visited the Orphans
of St. Catherine of Sienna in March 2008
A meaningful Easter Mass was followed by a social.
Games and Tambola added to the joy.
The Community picnic
ed in Lonavla in April. Also, ladies
were taught cake decoration, fancy sandwiches,
salad decoration and fabric painting by Dr.
(Mrs.) Nymphia Correa.
There have been regular monthly
meetings on Sundays, following the Parish council
meetings.
In July, we elected Ms. Valarie
Fernandes as Core Group Leader, Marisa Duarte
as Secretary and Jean Cairo and Natasha Concessio
as Joint Treasurers. We bid a warm farewell
to our sincere, selfless, hardworking Mr. Cajetan
Dias for all his effort.
On Teachers' Day, 2008, gifts
and cards were distributed to teachers and ex
teachers.
We visited St. Emily's Home
for the sick and aged Nuns of St. Joseph's Convent.
We plan to keep up with
our regular visits and activities.
