SOME HIS-STORY
Altar servers or better know as Altar Boys till 1994 because girls were not allowed to serve till then. In the year 1965 Fr. Tony Saldanha was the priest in charge of the Altar Boys. A month before the final exams Fr. Saldanha would go around the classes (5th, 6th & 7th Stds) inviting boys to join the altar service. In June the number of boys would rise up to 90, however, gradually drop to 60 by Easter. Regularity of the Altar Boys at that time was up to the mark, they were even allowed to serve in the convent. Few servers who took up the vocation- Fr. Savio, Br. Thomas etc. Till date many priest and brothers have being in charge of the Altar Servers, however, according to Fr. Tony Saldanha one person who left the Best influence on the Altar Servers was Fr. Vernon sj.
