NOTICES FOR THE WEEK
St. Peter's Church
29th March 2009

  1. There will be the annual Blood donation drive organised by the Y.S.S. on Sunday from 9 a.m. onwards at the Hall used by the Y.S.S. 
  2. Sunday, 29th March we will be having a concert at our Church with the organ, voice and visuals. This one hour ‘Lenten Reflections’ organised by Celeste Cordo & the Furtados will be held soon after the Sunday evening mass. 
  3.  The St. Peters Medical Centre now has a Spine specialist visiting every Wednesday morning from 11 to 12 noon. 
  4. Next Sunday is Palm Sunday. Masses will be held as usual with the exception that instead of the 7 & 8 a.m. Mass we will have a procession on the front ground at 7:30 a.m. followed by mass. The Veronica Service will be held on the Front Grounds at 6:45 p.m. 
  5. On Palm Sunday morning, a special family prayer card will be distributed to your homes along with a loaf of Blessed Bread. We suggest that your family come together for this prayer which is followed by lunch. Families of other parishes may pick up a prayer card and the blessed bread from the St. Peter's parlour from 7 a.m. onwards on Palm Sunday. SCC animators are requested to pick up the same for your families from the parlour.
  6. Youth Programmes:
    a. This Thursday, 2nd April, all college and working youth are invited to a one hour Multi Media programme entitled ‘Gethsemane’. All youth are requested to assemble at the St. Peters Square at 9:00 p.m. from where we will move to the Backyard lawns. Do come and bring your friends along.
    b. Jesus Fest, a gospel Musical and YouthLead a youth Mela will be held at Mt. Carmel Church on the 3rd and 4th April in the evenings. Please see the notice board for details.
    c. The Sisters of St. Joseph along with our Parish youth group invite all Youth to a Mission Experience with the less fortunate of Nagar Haveli on the 14th and 15th April. Details will be given next Sunday.
    d. On the Occasion on World Youth Day, the youth of the Bandra Deanery are invited to a youth mass at Mt Carmel Church next Sunday at 11:30 a.m. 
  7. Please look up the notice board for the following:
    a. The Focolare annual Summer camp for all at Khandala at the end of April.
    b. The Bombay Catholic Sabha ‘Christian Empowerment programme’ at St. Andrews Church, on Sunday morning.
    c. The all night Intercessory Prayer vigil at St. Andrew’s college Chapel on the 25th April.

  9. Our Sunday evening Lenten Movie will be “Romero” 

On Saturday evening, at 8:30 pm, millions around the world will come together to make a bold statement about their concern about climate change by turning off their lights for one hour.
Earth Hour’ symbolizes that each of us can make a positive impact in the fight against climate change.
What do you have to do? On Saturday March 28th you are requested to put all lights off from 8:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. Let us unite for earth's sake.

  1. Before the Eucharist begins, one requires a few minutes to recollect oneself & spend some time in silent prayer. We therefore urge you to be present in church at least 5 minutes before the Sunday & Week day mass.
    In order to remind you, from today, the Church bells are being rung 5 minute before each Mass.
    Those ministering at mass are requested to be in the Sacristy when the bell rings so that you may join the Main celebrant in a short prayer before mass.
  2. We will have our Searching the Scripture Class this Tuesday after the evening mass.
  3. The St. Peters Medical Centre is pleased to announce the appointment Dr. Ahmed – a Spine (Backache) specialist. He will be at the Clinic every Wednesday  morning from 11 to 12 noon. 
  4. All seniors are invited to the Monthly Housie programme this Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in Our Lady’s room.

  6. The St Peters unit of the Catholic Sabha has organised a talk on the “the Importance of Voting”. This will be held  next Sunday at 11  a.m. at the Parish Mini Hall.
  7. Next Sunday, 29th March we will be having a concert programme of ‘Lenten Reflections’ with the organ, voice and visuals at our Church for one hour soon after the Sunday evening mass. All are welcome.
  8. Those interested in participating at the Passover meal, on 5th April, Palm Sunday evening are requested to register at our reception counter by next Sunday latest. 
  9. Legion of Mary members are invited to their annual function at the Mount tomorrow/today Sunday at 5:30 p.m.
  10. On Thursday, 2nd April, all college and working youth are invited to a one hour programme entitled ‘At the Garden of Gethsemane’. For this programme, all youth are expected to assemble at the School shed at 9:00 p.m. from where we will move to the Backyard lawns.
  11.   2. We will be having our ‘Lenten Recollection’ by Fr. K.T. Emmanuel from 6 – 8:30 p.m. tomorrow/today Sunday 15th March at the St Joseph Primary School Hall. Registration for the same is now closed.
  3. All youth are invited to ‘Evenings with Jesus” from Thurs, 19th – Sat 21st March. From 7 – 9 p.m at our Lady’s Room. This programme is specially tailored for youth to have a great  Lenten experience.
  4. We will celebrate the Passover meal, that is the Jewish festive meal that  was Jesus’ last meal with his disciples. This meal will be celebrated at our parish on 5th April, Palm Sunday evening. You are all invited. Please register at our reception counter.
  5. All students who have just finished their 10th Std exams are invited to the “Teenager Orientation Programme”  for our Bandra Deanery which will be held on the 27th March. Please register at the Parish Reception counter. For details please look up the notice board.

  1. Family members of our House-bound, Sick or aged parishioners are requested to fill up a form at our parish office if you would like a Eucharistic Minister to bring them communion on Sundays. There is no need of registering if a Eucharistic Minister is already visiting your house.
  2. Our Senior Citizens group has arranged for Issuance of I.D. Cards. Those interested may collect an Application form from our Reception counter this week from 6 – 7 p.m.  
  3. We will have our 30 minutes ‘SEARCHING THE SCRIPTURE’ Session this Tuesday in Church, soon after the Evening mass. The Theme is the ‘Sermon on the Mount’.
  4. Advocates will render FREE ASSISTANCE this Tuesday from 7:30 p.m. in the Church Parlour.
  5. All youth are invited to ‘THE JESUS ENCOUNTER’    - that is, special Lenten sessions every Wednesday in Lent from this Wednesday onwards at 7:45 p.m. at  ‘Our Lady’s room’.
  6. As Fr Joe Pereira of the Kripa Foundation has received the ‘Padma Shree’, a felicitation in his honour will be held this Wednesday on the Mt Carmel grounds at 7 p.m.  
  7. We also have our ADULT FAITH SESSION Lenten Catechesis Series every Thursday at 8 p.m. in our Lady’s Room.

The Focolare Movement invites you to the monthly ‘WORD OF LIFE MEETING’ to be held tomorrow/today Sunday 8th of March  from 5 to 7pm at Our Lady’s hall.    They also invite you to a Eucharistic celebration to commemorate the first death anniversary of the Foundress of the Focolare movement on 14th March at 6 p.m. at the Mount.

    a.            Since we have the ‘Stations of the Cross’ next Friday, we will not have the First Friday Adoration at Church. 
    b.            All youth are invited to ‘THE JESUS ENCOUNTER’    - that is, special Lenten sessions every Wednesday in Lent from the 11th March at 7:45 p.m. in ‘Our Lady’s room’.
    c.             We will be having our Parish Lenten Recollection by Fr. K.T. Emmanuel on the evening of Sunday 15th March. Please Register for the same at our Reception Counter.
    d.            Families of other Parishes may pick up a copy of the ‘Family Lenten Calendar’ from the Sacristy.  
    e.            Please look up your Parish Lenten Programme for details of our weekly Lenten Programme.

  4. The Focolare Movement invites you to the monthly Word of Life Meeting to be held on Sunday 8th of March  from 5 to 7pm at Our Lady’s hall.   
  5. The Catholic Nurses’ Guild of India would like to have the names and addresses of all trained nurses residing at our Parish. You are requested to drop the same in the parish office Letter box by 8th March.
