Waroda Road Zone / Divine Mercy Community

We are a relatively small zone in St. Peter’s Parish consisting of about fifty-four families and according to the January 2005 census, the total number of parishioners were approximately 223, wherein the maximum persons are Senior Citizens with a very small number of youngsters.

Our zone is involved in the following activities:

Visiting
Visiting is one of the strongest attributes of our zone. We regularly visit the sick in the hospitals or the house-bound and elderly at their homes. During the time we spend with them we:
- Try to know one another, better.
- Keep the channels of communication open.
- Search or identify new talent.
- Try to understand any difficulties or problems that people may be facing and assist them in finding solutions.

Divine Mercy

Jesus, I trust in you.

These visits help us achieve the following:
- Gives people a sense of belonging and of being cared for.
- Helps people know where they stand in the community: their roles, responsibilities, duties and expectations.
- Helps sort out misunderstandings and clears misgivings.
- Helps draw people out to participate in parish and community activities.
- Helps people who may have gone astray to find God once again.

Community Mass
The annual Community Mass is usually celebrated after Easter in our zone. After the mass we have a small get together. It is really heartening to see all the members of our zone come together for this mass and the celebration afterward.

Children’s Party
We usually have some fun and entertainment programs for the children of our zone. This is usually held on a day close to the 14th of November. These entertainment programs are open to children of all faiths belonging to our zone.

Cooking Classes
On some occasions we organize programs like cooking classes for our community members. These classes are held by parishioners form our zone. These classes aim to keep the old recipes alive, especially ones that are not usually followed nowadays.

Outreach Programs
Each year we try to conduct some outreach programs. During the most recent one we visited Mother Tereza’s home at Byculla and Mukta Jeevan at Vehlolli near Shahapur.
